The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge remained closed during the 5 p.m. rush hour Wednesday. All other local bridges were open. Officials were telling pedestrians and bikers to keep off the Ravenel Bridge, as well, because of the danger of icicles falling on them from the overhead cables.
Patients with Roper St. Francis who are unsure if their doctor's office is closed Thursday or whether a procedure needs to be rescheduled should call 402-CARE (2273). Any appointments or procedures that were canceled due to the weather will be rescheduled.
Medical University of South Carolina classes and academic activities are expected to resume normal activities at noon Thursday. All university faculty and staff should plan to report by noon. Inpatient and emergency services remain fully operational. Elective surgeries and procedures will resume at noon. Anyone with questions about appointments, procedures or visiting protocol should call 792-2300.
The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center outpatient clinics will remain closed through Thursday. Patients whose appointments have been canceled will be called to reschedule. Inpatient and emergency services at the hospital will remain open.
Berkeley County School District schools will remain closed Thursday.
Charleston County School District schools will remain closed Thursday. All afternoon programs and events, including adult education, community education, Head Start, Kaleidoscope, athletics and all other after-school activities, are canceled. Staff at the Bridge View Drive and Calhoun Street district offices should not report to work today. Critical staff will be contacted about their schedule.
Dorchester County School District 2 schools will remain closed Thursday.

College of Charleston will delay opening campus until noon. This delay affects all classes, labs, meetings, and other activities scheduled at the Main Campus, North Campus, Patriots Point, Grice Marine Lab and the Lowcountry Graduate Center.
The Citadel will open at noon Thursday.
Charleston Southern University has canceled classes Thursday. Residence halls and dining facilities will continue to operate.

The S.C. Legislature will not meet this week. The session and all legislative meetings are canceled. The Legislature will resume its regular schedule next week.
Joint Base Charleston is resuming operations at 10 a.m.
The Isle of Palms City Council meeting has been rescheduled for 6 p.m Thursday.
The meeting scheduled today by Charleston County council member Joe Qualey regarding concerns on James Island was canceled. It will be rescheduled for a later date.
The town of Mount Pleasant will resume operations today. All Municipal Court events scheduled for Wednesday will be rescheduled for Thursday.
Charleston's State of the City address has been rescheduled for today. No announcement on city offices reopening had been made by presstime.
Charleston County offices will open at noon Thursday. The late opening applies to library branches, the downtown Charleston judicial center and the Charleston Center. A County Council meeting remains set for 5 p.m. Bond court will be in service Thursday morning. Recycling crews will resume work this afternoon and be back on schedule by the weekend.
