The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge remained closed during the 5 p.m. rush hour Wednesday. All other local bridges were open. Officials were telling pedestrians and bikers to keep off the Ravenel Bridge, as well, because of the danger of icicles falling on them from the overhead cables.

All afternoon programs and events, including adult education, community education, Head Start, Kaleidoscope, athletics and all other after-school activities, are canceled. Staff at the Bridge View Drive and Calhoun Street district offices should not report to work today. Critical staff will be contacted about their schedule.

A County Council meeting remains set for 5 p.m. Bond court will be in service Thursday morning. Recycling crews will resume work this afternoon and be back on schedule by the weekend.
