Readers have reported several instances of what they thought were SWAT teams in Mount Pleasant recently, but attempts to get more information have yielded little information.

A reader reported seeing what he thought was a SWAT team - law-enforcement officials with guns drawn - on Rifle Range Road Tuesday morning before the weather started deteriorating. The Mount Pleasant Police Department - which admittedly was busy gearing up for the winter storm - didn't respond to two requests for information.

Readers were also wondering what was going on last Wednesday afternoon when officers in camouflage uniforms, bulletproof vests and assault rifles converged on a house at Venning and Rifle Range roads. Motorists going through the busy intersection around rush hour were sending out tweets asking why they were driving past officers with guns out.

The officers with rifles appeared to be U.S. marshals. Mount Pleasant Police Maj. Stan Gragg said officers were serving a warrant but the suspect was not there and no arrest was made. No other information was released.

Readers reported another similar incident last week.
