EASLEY, S.C. -- Authorities in Pickens County say a man was shot to death at an Easley home while his wife and child slept.

Deputy Coroner Gary Duncan says 38-year-old Shane Ainsley Williams of Easley died early Sunday from a gunshot wound.

Chief Deputy Creed Hashe says deputies got a 911 call at around 3:45 a.m. Sunday about a shooting at Williams' home.

Hashe says Williams' wife and small child were home but were not hurt. Deputies say the woman and child were awakened by what sounded like gunshots and found Williams on the floor.

Hashe says there were no signs anyone had broken into the home. Authorities are still investigating, and an autopsy was scheduled Monday.
