Two women beat up a Wal-Mart guard and made off with a shopping cart full of stolen DVDs, but not before the guard got their license plate number, according to Charleston police.
Ashley Lynn-Nichole Todd, 31, and Tiffany Michelle Todd, 30, both of OT Wallace Drive in Summerville, were arrested Friday and charged with strong-arm robbery.
A guard at the store near Bees Ferry Road and the Glenn McConnell Parkway told police he confronted a woman pushing a cart with 55 DVDs that had not been paid for shortly before noon Nov. 21. She ignored him until he started taking back the DVDs, and then she started yelling at him, according to the incident report. The guard said another woman drove up in a burgundy Envoy and got out, and both women began hitting him with their hands. A bystander, also a woman, stepped in to help the guard, and the two attackers jumped into the SUV and drove off, according to the report.
The guard noted that the women tore his hooded sweatshirt in the scuffle. He also noted their license plate number, and they were arrested Friday.
Tiffany Todd was released on $10,000 bail. Ashley Todd was being held in the Charleston County jail on $50,000 bail Monday night.
