Toilet part

Watch out for exploding toilets. Flushmate, the maker of a high-pressure flushing system sold at Home Depot and Lowe's, is expanding its recall of the parts, because they can burst near a seam with force enough to shatter the toilet tank.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday that the company is recalling 351,000 units in the U.S. and about 9,400 units in Canada of the Series 503 Flushmate 111 Pressure Assist flushing systems installed inside toilet tanks that were made from March 2008 through June 2009.

There were no reports of injuries, but Flushmate has received three reports of the units included in the recall bursting, resulting in property damage.

The move expands upon a June 2012 recall of the same systems made from October 1997 through February 2008. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled system, turn off the water supply to the unit, flush the toilet to release the internal pressure and contact the firm to request a free repair kit. Pacifier holders

Playtex is recalling 1.4 million pacifier holders because of concern that a small child could choke if part of the clip broke off.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the clips, used to connect a pacifier to clothing, diaper bags or strollers, can crack and a small part can break off. Playtex has received 99 reports of the holder cracking or breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Playtex is recalling 1.25 million clips in the U.S. They were sold from 2010 through October 2013 for about $3 at major retailers including Target, Walmart and Amazon.com. Consumers can contact Playtex for a refund.

Elliptical cycles

About 7,000 ElliptiGO 3C, 8C and 11R models are outdoor elliptical cycles used for exercise. It is a scooter-like device that combines an elliptical trainer with a bicycle. The ElliptiGO cycles have an aluminum frame, drive arms, two 20" wheels, front/rear brakes and an adjustable-height steering column.

The 3C and 8C model cycles have a "C-Series" decal toward the rear of the frame and aluminum drive arms. The recalled 11R cycles are matte black with white markings and the "11R" decal is toward the rear frame. Serial numbers are on the frame in front of the back wheel near where the kickstand attaches.

Serial numbers on the recalled 3C and 8C models are 11-010-001 through 13-028-102, and the 11R model 12-003-069 through 12-020-035. They were sold April 2011 through Oct. 2013.

The front fork on the ElliptiGO cycles can separate and the drive arm axles can detach during use, posing a fall hazard. One minor abrasion has been reported. Details: 888-551-0117; www.elliptigo.com.
