The man who goes by the moniker Vinx will be in Charleston for a one-night-only gig at The Mezz, the jazz club above Sermet's Downtown, 276 King. St.
Vinx is a singer with an extraordinarily flexible baritone voice and a gifted percussionist who accompanies himself and sometimes uses technology to create multi-voiced tunes in real time.
He will perform one set only at 9 p.m. Tuesday. The cover charge is $15 and will be added to the drinks and food bill. To make reservations, which are strongly recommended, call 853-4515.
He has performed with Stevie Wonder, Sting, Ernie Watts, Cassandra Wilson, Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow, Branford Marsalis and Darius Rucker, among many other artists.
A Kansas City native and Berklee College of Music educator, Vinx is the founder of the Songwriter's Soul Kitchen workshops.
