"First, I think certainly portions sizes are misleading. There's a horrible cookie on the market right now called a 'sweet bottom cookie.' I won't get into the details of this monstrously horrible cookie but it's got a lot of sugar and calories. However, when you look at the serving size it says one-quarter of a cookie. Now I ask you, what kid's eating one-quarter of a cookie? Adults, even for that matter. I think the serving sizes could be easier to read and more true to life."

"I am super-excited for the Nutrition Facts label to get a makeover - it is long overdue! I find the current label overly confusing and lacking in helpful information. When I ask my patients what information they look at on the label, I get a different answer from every person or my patient will tell me they find the label so confusing they don't even look at it.. Once they get the new nutrition facts label done, I want them to then standardize how ingredient lists are written."

"The labeling will be changing to make it more user-friendly. It's exciting to see there's actually an increase in the number of people who are reading the label, however, at 42 percent, there's still a lot of work to be done. One thing that I hope is that it's easier for people to read and understand ultimately. I think the placement (of the food label) is obviously important, as is the size of the text. It's good, however, I'd like to see more emphasis on ingredients."
