Charleston County School District's Parent University will host its fifth annual "From Boyz To Gentlemen" summit on Saturday.
The event, "Raising successful sons in the 21st century," will last from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at West Ashley High, 4060 W. Wildcat Blvd, in Charleston. The event is free and open to any Charleston County School District parent.
The district-wide event will include speakers, panelists and workshops for both parents and male students. Some of the day's highlights include: speaker Byron Garrett, chairman of the National Family Engagement Alliance; interactive parent workshops on issues related to raising young men of color; and a resource fair that will provide information from regional colleges and universities to assist parents and young men with preparing for higher education.
A structured children's program will be available for children ages 4 to 12.
