Firefighters battle blaze at West Ashley home

Charleston firefighters are working a blaze that ignited at a West Ashley home this afternoon.

The fire ignited at a home on Ophir Drive, authorities said.

According to Charleston Fire Department spokesman Ryan Kunitzer, authorities arrived at the scene at 12:28 p.m. and saw flames coming from the home.

The fire took about 20 minutes to control, Kunitzer said.

Charleston and St. Andrews crews are currently putting out hot spots at the scene, he said.
