Charleston police on Thursday released surveillance photos from a West Ashley business that was robbed Monday night. Police also said Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of a suspect in the case.
Police were called to the Kangaroo gas station at 106 Main Road about 10:30 p.m., according to an incident report.
The store’s clerk told police that she was near the back of the store when a masked man entered and pointed a pistol, the report said.
The clerk told police the gunman demanded that she open the store’s safe, but she could not because the safe has a timed lock. Instead, she opened the cash register and handed over about $156, the report said. The robber also stole two packs of Newport cigarettes, the report said.
The suspect was described as a black man, about 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was wearing aforest-green jumpsuit and a black ski mask.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
