Authorities were called to the gas station at 106 Main Road in West Ashley around 10:30 p.m., according to an incident report.

The store’s clerk told police that she had been toward the back of the store mopping near the beer coolers when a masked man entered the store and pointed a pistol.

The man ordered the clerk to open the store’s safe, the report said, but the device contained a timed lock. Instead, the clerk opened the cash register and handed over about $156, police said.

The masked man also stole two packs of Newport cigarettes, the report said.

According to police, the robber is described as a black man, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He wore a forest-green jumpsuit and a black ski mask.

A suspect had not been identified in the case, police spokesman Charles Francis said Tuesday afternoon.
