Former South Carolina star George Rogers will bring his Heisman Trophy to the Tailgate Throwdown prior to the Medal of Honor Bowl on Saturday at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
Rogers, who won the Heisman in 1980 as a USC running back, will be available for photos and autographs beginning at 11 a.m. at the tailgate tent located in the southwest parking lot to the right of the stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
Rogers starred at South Carolina from 1977-80 and is still the all-time leading rusher in school history with 5,024 yards while ranking second with 31 touchdowns. He was a consensus All-American and Heisman Trophy winner following a senior season in which he rushed for 1,781 yards.
He playe for the Saints and Redskins in the NFL, finishing with 7,176 rushing yards, 54 touchdowns and two Pro bowl appearances.
