Orangeburg County sheriff's deputies are investigating after one person was gunned down and two others wounded in a shooting in Holly Hill.
Authorities were called to a home on Bim Street around 8:30 p.m. Thursday after gunshots erupted in the area, an incident report said.
Two men who had been struck by bullets were found lying on the home's steps.
One man who received a gunshot wound to his back told deputies he could not move his legs. The other was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.
Deputies located a third man nearby who had been shot twice in the chest. That man told deputies he had been working on car on Bim Street when two masked men in black clothing approached and fired off several rounds. He ran into a wooded area to get away from the gunfire, the report said.
"At this time our investigation is just beginning," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a news release. "There are few details that are available, but evidence indicates this was not a random act of violence."
The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office has not released the identity of the person killed in the incident. The conditions of the two wounded people were not immediately available, deputies said.
Anyone with information about the shooting can call investigators at 803-534-3550 or Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
