Charleston County sheriff's deputies are investigating an armed robbery to a Dollar General store in West Ashley that happened late Tuesday.

Authorities were called around 10 p.m. to the store at 2346 Ashley River Road, an incident report states.

Witnesses reported to deputies that a black man with duct tape on his face entered the store, pointed a silver gun and demanded money.

The store's manager grabbed a key to the safe while at gunpoint, the report said. The robber ran from the scene with a white bag containing $1,052.96, deputies said.

Witnesses described the robber as a black man wearing a black jacket, black pants, a blue hoodie and gloves, the report said.

A suspect in the case has not been identified, Maj. Eric Watson said.
