Charleston County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday arrested man accused of choking his wife and slamming her head on the floor in a dispute.
Jason Rentz, 35, of Garvin Village in Hollywood, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, Charleston County jail records show.
Deputies are searching for a second person accused in the alleged assault, Jessica Roberts, 34, of Savannah Highway in Ravenel, Maj. Eric Watson said.
Rentz's 34-year-old wife called authorities to the Ravenel Mobile Home Park around 9 p.m. Thursday, an incident report states.
The woman told deputies that she argued with her husband about infidelity.
The woman cried, grabbed her husband by the shirt and asked why he had hurt her, the report said. Rentz responded by pulling his wife onto the floor and choking her while yelling "die (expletive) die," according to the report.
The woman reported to deputies that Rentz slammed her head on the floor, all while his friend, Roberts, watched from a nearby couch.
According to the report, Roberts started to pull Rentz off of his wife, but she instead grabbed a ceramic vase and repeatedly hit the woman on the head until it broke.
Rentz and Roberts then grabbed another object and hit the woman in the face, deputies said. The woman reported to deputies that her husband also grabbed her bottom lip and dug his fingernails into it.
She managed to escape to a family member's home to call authorities, deputies said.
Paramedics took the woman to a hospital, where she received stitches to a cut on her forehead, the report said. She also suffered a black eye and wounds to her wrists, arms, neck and stomach, deputies said.
Rentz and Roberts fled after the alleged incident, according to the report. Rentz was later arrested and held at the Charleston County jail pending a bond hearing, jail records show.
