Wintry weather in Northeast and Midwest canceling, delaying flights at Charleston airport

Wintry weather in the Northeast and Midwest is playing havoc with airline schedules today.

At least five arriving flights and five departing flights have been canceled at Charleston International Airport, according to the airport's website. Several others are experiencing delays. The airport sees 112 arriving and departing flights a day, according to airport spokeswoman Becky Beaman.

So far, cancellations have affected flights to or from Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Newark and New York.

Passengers should check with airlines before leaving for the airport.
