South Carolina running back Mike Davis is expected to have an MRI on Sunday but is believed to only have a high ankle sprain, a source told The Post and Courier.
Davis tweeted about the MRI on Sunday but later deleted the tweet.
The sophomore had a breakout season for the Gamecocks, rushing for 1,183 yards with 11 touchdowns and being named Second Team All-SEC. He opened the season with six 100-yard rushing games in his first seven, but combined for 125 rushing yards in his final three games.
Before South Carolina's bowl trip to Orlando, Davis admitted he was less than 100 percent healthy. Late in the Gamecocks' 34-24 win against Wisconsin, Davis lay on the field for several moments and was attended by trainers. He later returned to the game.
