Passengers at Charleston International Airport will encounter construction zones throughout the terminal beginning Monday.
Four of the eight lanes of traffic in front of the terminal building will be closed for several months as renovation and expansion begin in earnest on the terminal facility. The lane closures involve the four lanes closest to the building.
The building's facade will see more glass to let in more light and a dome will be erected over the lobby over the next few months. Passengers will follow makeshift corridors to the airport gates. The two concourses are not closing, but construction of new gates and other facilities will be going on near some boarding areas.
