Quarterbacks

How many great individual matchups has Tajh Boyd enjoyed this year? Aaron Murray, Jameis Winston, Connor Shaw, now Braxton Miller. This one's almost too close to call; Miller's the dynamic dual threat, but Boyd's the dangerous gunslinger with a more favorable matchup.

Running Backs

The Tigers' defense did bottle up Boston College's Andre Williams and USC's Mike Davis, but Georgia's Todd Gurley gashed Clemson, and you know Carlos Hyde, who's rushed for 100-plus yards in eight straight games, took note. Roderick McDowell's solid, but not as dominant.

Receivers

Take a last good look at Sammy Watkins and Martavis Bryant terrorizing overmatched secondaries while you can. One or both will be playing on Sundays next year. Ohio State's Corey Brown and Devin Smith do have 18 combined touchdowns.

Offensive Line

Definition of big uglies: an Ohio State line running 300 pounds across the board and a center with a big ol' cut on his nose. Bunch of bulldozers, those Buckeyes. It still remains to be seen whether Clemson will ever shake their tackles-for-loss doldrums.

Defensive Line

Vic Beasley's been antsy all month, tired of triple option looks. He'll welcome the challenge of chasing down Miller, and he has adept help in Corey Crawford and Grady Jarrett. OSU's Jamal Marcus is an intriguing backup in place of the suspended Noah Spence.

Linebackers

Another really tightly contested position battle. It's hard to go against Ryan Shazier, the kid playing 20 miles from home with a mind-blowing 94 unassisted tackles this year (134 total.) Clemson's Stephone Anthony and Spencer Shuey get the job done, too.

Secondary

Health issues swing this in the opposite direction. All-American cornerback Bradley Roby would have been a fun matchup with Sammy Watkins, but he's out with a knee injury. Look for Clemson's Bashaud Breeland, Jayron Kearse or Korrin Wiggins to make a big play.

Special Teams

The Tigers have weapons with feet: Chandler Catanzaro is 13 for 14 on field goals this year, Bradley Pinion has punted 23 times inside the 20 without a touchback, Adam Humphries averages 10.6 yards a punt return. Now just don't fumble fair catches.

Outlook

It's impossible to ignore Urban Meyer's sparkling 7-1 record in bowl games, and 4-0 in the BCS. The Buckeyes' motivation shouldn't be an issue after being ineligible in 2012. Plus, this is a set-the-table statement for the playoff committee in 2014. However, the injury bug has struck the Buckeyes' defense, making OSU susceptible to big plays from Boyd and Watkins. The Tigers' defense is tired of hearing they can't handle top offenses, and even if Miller and Hyde have their way, Clemson will make just enough third-down stops to erase the distaste from two Orange Bowls ago and grab a program-defining victory.
