A diving catch by Citadel centerfielder Hughston Armstrong in the Southern Conference baseball tournament has been voted the SoCon's top moment of 2013.
Armstrong's catch began a game-ending double-play that sealed the Bulldogs' 8-6 win over Appalachian State, sending them to the championship game of the SoCon Tournament in Greenville.
SoCon fans voted on the league's top moment for 2013. Georgia Southern football's 26-20 upset of Florida on Nov. 23 was voted No. 2, and Western Carolina's 27-24 win over Elon to break a 26-game losing streak in leage play was No. 3.
"A phenomenal feeling to have the whole team come out," said Armstrong, who was lifted up on his teammates' shoulders after the catch. "An adrenaline rush beyond what I could ever expect."
Armstrong is a 5-7, 165-pound senior from Columbia.
