Charleston Police are investigating an incident from Tuesday afternoon when they responded to the Maverick Street area, east of Hampton Park, in reference to reports of shots fired.

Several officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate a victim or subjects. After approximately 30 minutes, officers were dispatched to the Medical University of South Carolina, where a victim had presented himself with a gunshot wound to the left forearm.

The victim is a 31-year-old male. Police are trying to determine the cause of the shooting and identity a suspect or suspects. The wound was described as non-life-threatening.
