Cold weather arrives just in time for Christmas

Sipping hot cocoa by a warm fire on Christmas won't be as far fetched as it seemed over the warm weekend in the Lowcountry. While it remains a bit warm today, temperatures are expected to get colder by Wednesday, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service.

Today, rain is expected, mainly in the afternoon, with a 100 percent chance.

More rain may come Tuesday, but temperatures begin cooling with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 20s.

But the skies are expected to clear by Christmas on Wednesday with sunny skies and high temperatures in the lower 50s and lows in the 30s.

Thursday night, there's a 20 percent chance of rain. The rest of the weekend is expected to be sunny with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.
