Charleston police on Wednesday arrested a man accused in two car break-ins on James Island.

Thomas Maybank, 20, of Old Plantation Road, is charged with two counts of breaking into a motor vehicle and simple possession of marijuana, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

The arrest was made in connection with two break-ins that were reported on Dec. 13 on the road where Maybank lives and Kushiwah Creek Drive, Francis said.

According to police, money, an iPod, a telephone charger, a pair of sunglasses and seven CDs were taken from the vehicles.

Police searched Maybank's home while serving the warrants. Authorities confiscated three grams of marijuana and several items that were stolen in the break-ins, Francis said.

Maybank is being held at the Charleston County jail pending a bail hearing.
