Local writer publishes action-adventure

Alan Ables of Summerville has published a new action-adventure novel called "Tale of the Tape: Two Unlikely Heroes Take Down the Dixie Mafia."

"My heroes are not spies, special agents or powerful players, but rather ordinary individuals who are drawn into the action quite by circumstance beyond their control," Ables, a career naval officer and speechwriter, said in a press release.

"Tale of the Tape" blends historical events with adventure and tells a tale of power and prestige and heroism.

Published by Outskirts Press of Denver, Colo., the novel is available online at outskirtspress.com/taleofthetape, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Local author offers relationship advice

A new book, "Overcoming Destructive Relationships," by local author Tracy L. Smalls is available at Amazon.com.

The 48-page book, published through Createspace, is Smalls' first.

"I wrote the book to inspire others to never allow themselves to be involved in abusive relationships," she said. "It's especially a good book for parents with teenage daughters. ... This would help them while talking to their daughters about relationships and sex. This is not an easy subject but it must be done to save our daughters."
