Two men were arrested Wednesday and charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer, North Charleston police said.

Arrested were Shabazz Akeen Isiah Watson of Linden Lane in Goose Creek and Jonathan Willie Caldwell of Mitton Road in Moncks Corner, police said.

Watson is also charged with failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a Schedule IV narcotic and simple possession of marijuana. Caldwell also is charged with having an open container of beer in a motor vehicle.

One of the suspects displayed a Berkeley County Sheriff's Office badge to a man in the parking lot of a Taco Bell on Rivers Avenue, police said. The unidentified suspect told the man he was detaining him for a traffic violation, but the man drove off and his wife called 911, police said.

Watson led police on a chase at speeds up to 60 miles per hour that ended at Sunrise Mobile Home Park, according to an incident report.

The vehicle Watson was driving was confirmed as belonging to a member of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. The badge was found on the front seat of the truck, police said.
