SUMMERVILLE - Holidays in the town parks won't be quite so frolicky anymore.
Starting Christmas Eve, the town plans not to unlock park facilities that are locked each night, on holidays when employees otherwise are on vacation.
That means the Gahagan park ballfields and the gated Wassamassaw park won't be open, nor will restrooms at those and other parks.
Ungated areas, such as the town's signature Azalea Park or the playground at Gahagan, will remain open.
The idea is to give employees that vacation day, said Councilman Bob Jackson.
Town Council informally agreed to the move during its Monday finance committee meeting. It will be formally adopted at the Wednesday council meeting. That meeting takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall complex, 200 S. Main St.
