Forward Andrew Cherniwchan scored two goals and an assist for the second straight game to lead South Carolina over Orlando, 5-1, on Saturday night as the Stingrays extended their winning streak to six games.

The Stingrays (16-2-1-2) put four goals past Solar Bears (12-9-0-1) goaltender Garrett Sparks in the first periods.

Forward Wayne Simpson kicked off the scoring at 6:31, rifling a shot over the blocker of Sparks from between the faceoff circles. Cherniwchan picked up the lone assist.

Cherniwchan made it 2-0 with his seventh goal of the season at 14:33 with help from Simpson.

Forward Peter Boyd jumped on the score sheet, lifting a wrist shot from the left-wing circle over the glove of Sparks at 17:52 from defensemen Luka Vidmar and Jeremy Price.

With 14 seconds left in the frame, Cherniwchan netted his second goal, redirecting a Derrick Pallis shot from the left-wing point. Forward Marc Hagel earned the assist.

Patrick Gaul scored in the third period to give the Stingrays a five-goal advantage. The Stingrays wrap up a six-game road trip on Friday against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga., and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday to take on the Solar Bears at 7:05 p.m. on College Night and Teddy Bear Toss benefiting Debi's Kids.
