The body that was recovered from the Cooper River Thursday has been identified as the man last seen walking away from a wreck on the Don Holt Bridge several days before Thanksgiving.
He was James Brown, 38, of Wando, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury. Brown had been listed as missing since he was last seen after the wreck on the bridge Nov. 24.
The body was found floating on the Berkeley County side of the river across from the former Navy base about 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Salisbury said. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
