The Corner at Wescott in North Charleston is starting to fill out.
Moe’s Southwest Grill is opening this week at the new Harris Teeter-anchored shopping center at 9514 Dorchester Road, and Pet Supplies Plus announced it would open early next year.
The restaurant is one of the first businesses to open in the new 166,962-square-foot retail center. Starbucks opened a few months ago, and Harris Teeter plans to open at the beginning of next year.
To mark the occasion, Moe’s will let customers name their own price for meals served Thursday. The day’s earnings will go toward the $10,000 the chain is donating to Charleston Promise Neighborhood, a nonprofit that offers community support in impoverished areas in the Lowcountry.
The new restaurant marks the seventh Moe’s location to open in the Charleston market. “We are thrilled to continue expanding in Charleston and the surrounding communities,” said Cary Chastain, who owns and operates all the Moe’s franchises in the area with business partner William Oriani.
Also coming to the Corner at Wescott is Pet Supplies Plus. It announced last week that it will open its first Charleston location in February. The pet store operates 280 locations across the country with the nearest in Columbia.
Other businesses expected to open in the Corner at Wescott include TCBY, Rack Room Shoes, Marshalls and more.
Carriage House Auction Gallery celebrates its grand opening Saturday with its first auction at 6 p.m. Furniture, home goods and other holiday-minded items will be up for bids. Attendees are encouraged to bring a toy to donate to Toys for Tots.
The gallery at 1757 Ashley River Road in Ashley Oaks Plaza will host auctions every third Thursday and on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
Dixie Supply Bakery and Cafe is opening for dinner twice a week. The diner at 62 State St. on the peninsula near the City Market has served only breakfast and lunch since opening in 2007, but it will serve dinner 5:30-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.
The restaurant has hired Fish’s former banquet chef, Sara Carter, as general manager and chef, and Shana Burgess, formerly of Rutledge Cab Co., has been brought on as the head sous chef. They plan to introduce new approaches to the daily specials, according to a written statement.
