A man jumped into a woman’s vehicle and robbed her at gunpoint as she prepared to leave a Walmart parking lot, North Charleston police said.
The robbery occurred 10 p.m. on Friday at the Walmart store at 9880 Dorchester Road, according to North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor.
The robbed woman told police that she was getting inside her vehicle in the store’s parking lot when a man with a gun jumped in on the passenger’s side.
The man pointed the gun at the woman and ordered her to drive toward Ladson Road. He searched the woman’s purse only to discover that she didn’t have any cash, Pryor said.
The robber ordered the woman to withdraw money from the nearby South Carolina Federal Credit Union at the intersection of Dorchester and Ladson roads. Then, he had the woman drop him off at a Chili’s parking lot near the Walmart store, Pryor said.
Police searched for the man, but did not find him on Friday.
Pryor described the robber as a white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, about 250 pounds with a thin beard and mustache.
Anyone with information on the man can call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
