H&M isn’t the only big retailer heading to Tanger Outlet Center in North Charleston.

Crocs recently opened in suite 1080, adjacent to Clarks Bostonian in the western wing of the shopping center. While several stores in the area carry the line of rubber comfort shoes, the Crocs store in Tanger Outlets is the first retail shop for the brand in the Tri-county area.

Cole Haan will open an outlet store in the shopping center on Thursday in Suite 375, next door to Bare Minerals. It’s the first outlet store for the brand in South Carolina.

Winging it

Competition is heating up for chicken wing joints in Mount Pleasant.

East Coast Wings & Grill, a franchise launched in Winston-Salem, N.C., is making its South Carolina debut in January at 1909 U.S. Highway 17, next to Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. The franchise has 27 other locations in North Carolina, Florida and Texas.

The restaurant specializes in hot wings, with nine levels of spice offered for each of its 75 flavors. Those who order the spiciest “Insanity Wing” are required to sign a waiver before indulging.

A soft opening will be held Dec. 9, and franchise owners George and Sherry Nichols expect to be open by the second week of January.

“We’re excited to bring the heat to Mount Pleasant, and this is the perfect location,” he said. “The highly trafficked Towne Centre ... should provide a steady flow of diners looking to spice up their day.”

Juicing up

With a frozen yogurt joint sprinkled in nearly every area of the city, Sweet CeCe’s at 99 S. Market St. found a way to diversify.

The yogurt shop has opened The Juice Bar, a section where customers can order cleansing drinks that contain vitamins, minerals, living enzymes and other nutritious ingredients.

The Juice Bar is somewhat of an experiment for natural health specialists such as Neda Smith to help them better understand the effects of juice cleansing. Customers are encouraged to participate in a survey when they order juices to help with the study.

Business cycle

Revolution Indoor Cycling is opening a flagship spin studio in the bottom floor of Elan Midtown, a luxury apartment complex under construction at 441 Meeting St.

The studio has a grand opening party planned for early January, said Amanda Slade, assistant manager of Elan.

Co-owners Lindsay Rodbell and Eric Feather moved from New York to open the first studio gym in Charleston.

They plan to expand to locations across the country, according to a written statement.

Now open

Cactus Car Wash opened its first Mount Pleasant location on Saturday at 1800 U.S. Highway 17 across from Lowe’s. The full-service car wash has three other locations, two in West Ashley and one in North Charleston.

Destination XL, a men’s plus-size retailer based in Canton, Mass., has picked North Charleston to open its first store in the region. It’s at 7620 Rivers Ave. in Northwoods Market Place.
