Burglar takes almost $15,000 worth of jewerly, luggage from Daniel Island home
Somebody kicked in the back door of a Daniel Island home, headed straight for an upstairs closet and stole almost $15,000 worth of jewelry and luggage Wednesday, the residents told Charleston police.
Police were called to the house on Pierce Street about 2:45 p.m., according to the incident report. The residents said they left the house about 10:45 a.m. and discovered the burglary when they got back about 1:30 p.m.
Whoever entered the house walked past the woman’s watch and iPad on the first floor and headed for the woman’s walk-in closet in the master bedroom. A $7,000 diamond tennis bracelet, a $3,000 Cartier women’s Santos watch, an $800 Michele watch with crocodile band and a $4,000 monogrammed brown Louis Vuitton travel suitcase were taken, according to the report.
The back door had been kicked in, and a footprint was visible beneath the door knob, according to the report. The front door was unlocked, and the residents told police they had locked it before they left. They had not activated the alarm when they left, according to the report.
The residents told police a carpet cleaner had been in the house recently.
