It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The weather is brisk and the high school football playoffs are in full swing. The sad part about it is that it all ends when the High School League concludes the season with its Weekend of Champions on Dec. 6-7
The Post and Courier’s high school writer Phil Bowman and ABC news 4 main man Dean Stephens are certainly champions. We’re just not sure what they are champions of.
Both prognosticators went 5-1 last week with their only miss being Wando’s trip to Sumter. Both picked Wando and both were wrong.
That being said, here are this week’s picks:
Ashley Ridge at Summerville
Stephens: Summerville beats its county rival again, 24-21.
Bowman: Upset special. Ashley Ridge, 27-24.
Wade Hampton at Goose Creek
Stephens: Goose Creek, 56-10. Enough said.
Bowman: Goose Creek, 59-10. Enough said.
Nation’s Ford at Stratford
Stephens: Stratford comes into the playoffs with a chip, 38-10
Bowman: Stratford, Goose Creek on track for rematch. Stratford, 28-7.
Marlboro County at Hanahan
Stephens: Hanahan continues its trek to a state championship, 24-17
Bowman: Hawks must be ready. Hanahan, 24-23.
Aynor at Timberland
Stephens: T-wolves howl at home. Timberland, 17-10
Bowman: Craig’s team begin crusade to state championship. Timberland, 24-7.
Andrews at Bishop England
Stephens: Great matchup. Still like the Bishops, 20-10.
Bowman: Bishops’ playoff win streak reaches nine games. BE, 27-13.
