Two Summerville schools put on lockdown after home invasion reported

Two Summerville schools were on lockdown Tuesday morning after a reported home invasion and gunman on the loose.

A man armed with a gun reportedly broke into a residence at Somerset Apartments on Boone Hill Road Tuesday morning, Summerville Police Capt. Jon Rogers said.

Summerville police and Dorchester County deputies looked for a suspect but did not report finding anybody.

Summerville High and Gregg Middle schools were locked down during the search as a precaution, District 2 spokeswoman Pat Raynor said.

No other information was available Tuesday.
