Charleston police release sketch of man wanted in West Ashley home invasion
Charleston police on Thursday released a sketch of a suspect wanted in a home invasion that happened in West Ashley last week.
The drawing depicts one of multiple men who stole a laptop and iPhone on Saturday from an apartment on Treescape Drive, an incident report states.
A 16-year-old girl who lives at the apartment told police that someone knocked on the home’s door shortly after 11 p.m.
The girl did not recognize a man she saw through the door’s peephole, according to the report.
She opened the door and was rushed by multiple men in black clothing who barged into the apartment, police said.
At least two of the men were armed with guns, the report states.
After the men left, the girl ran to a neighbor and called 911.
A police flier containing a sketch of one of the men described that suspect as a black man with a stocky build, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 to 200 pounds. The man had short, wavy hair and appeared to be in his late 20s to early 30s, police said.
Anyone who knows the man’s identity is asked to contact Detective Fulton at 720-3036 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
