Investigators want help finding a 25-year-old downtown Charleston man after he punched his live-in girlfriend earlier this fall, the police said Thursday.
Mark Anthony Martin Jr., 25, of North Romney Street is wanted on a charge of criminal domestic violence.
On Sept. 22, according to arrest affidavits, Martin started yelling at the woman he had been dating for seven months. He tried to charge her, but onlookers held him back at first, witnesses told the Charleston Police Department.
At one point, though, Martin got close enough to the woman to punch her once in the left side of the face, the documents stated.
Martin has an arrest history.
After an arrest in 2007, he pleaded guilty to unlawful conduct toward a child and was sentenced to three years of probation.
Jail records also show that he has been booked on charges of shoplifting, disorderly conduct, congregating for an unlawful purpose and violating conditions of his probation.
Anyone with information about Martin’s whereabouts should call the Charleston Police Department at 720-2427 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
