One of North Charleston City Councilman Ron Brinson’s sons was killed in a highway wreck late Thursday afternoon, city officials said, prompting the cancellation a meeting of City Council Thursday night.
Details of the fatal wreck were not immediately available from the SC Highway Patrol. City officials said the fatal accident happened on Interstate 95, and the SCHP’s online list of traffic accidents included a fatal accident in Clarendon County shortly after 4 p.m. on Interstate 95.
The City Council meeting scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday was called to order and then adjourned immediately following the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer, which among other things asked that God comfort the Brinson family. All scheduled business, including final action on a tax break for Select Health of South Carolina and a city ordinance requiring residents to edge the grass along sidewalks, was postponed until a meeting Nov. 26.
