COLUMBIA — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is making another trip to South Carolina this week.
The Texas Republican is a scheduled speaker at a pastors’ policy briefing in Columbia hosted by the South Carolina Renewal Project. The two-day event begins Monday. U.S. Sen. Tim Scott is also slated to attend the gathering, which is called “Rediscovering God in America.”
Cruz was first elected last year but is already generating 2016 presidential buzz. As the featured speaker at a South Carolina GOP fundraising dinner in May, he urged Republicans to work together to help the party take back the U.S. Senate in 2014.
Cruz also paid tribute to former South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, calling him a “voice in the wilderness.”
