For tenants eying a home or condo to lease with scenic views, they might start by locating places on or near the water.
The Charleston area sports its share of standing or flowing water – rivers, tidal creeks, marsh, ponds, Lake Moultrie, the Atlantic Ocean, even some streets on really rainy days.
At the same time, home and condo owners like to live alongside these tributaries and catch basins because the bodies of water can serve up stunning sunsets and host fun activities such as fishing and boating.
When those waterside properties go up for lease, renters can benefit. Take 153 River Breeze Drive. The 1,400-square-foot condo in the Waterway South neighborhood west of the Ashley can be leased for $1,300 a month.
“Waterway South is a small, secluded, beautifully landscaped community overlooking the Stono River,” says Joyce Beach, the property owner and a local commercial real estate broker.
“This spacious home offers beautiful marsh views and access to the Stono via a deep water canal,” she says.
Another perk, Beach says, involves the convenient location: just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston and five minutes from Interstate 526.
The double-decker condominium showcases two bedrooms and two full baths.
According to Beach, the condo’s just been “freshly painted (with) new flooring and many interior updates.”
Features include a spacious second floor master bedroom that offers a large walk-in closet and a bathroom with double-sink vanity, she says.
The condo also boasts a nicely appointed kitchen, which includes “an ample pantry area and a good size storage closet for coats and miscellaneous items,” Beach says. A wood-burning fireplace spotlights the living room.
From the living quarters, people can pass directly to the private deck. She says the deck offers “beautiful views of the marsh and Stono River.”
The deck also provides extra storage space to set away things such as “bikes, coolers and a grill,” Beach says.
Waterway South, which stands a mile or so south of the Savannah Highway, provides a number of amenities. The neighborhood maintains a kayak deck, tennis court, pool and a clubhouse available for owners use, Beach says. Also, the property sits not far from the West Ashley Greenway.
The property also lists for sale, at $195,000. The washer and dryer will convey with a rental or sale, Beach says.
“Fish, crab, shrimp and kayak right outside your door,” she says.
The condo stands on the north side of the Stono River. Traveling south on Savannah Highway, proceed about four miles from the Ashley River Bridge. Turn left on Stinson Drive. Take the second right, which is Piper Avenue. At the end of Piper Avenue, make a left on East Shore Lane. Travel to the end and turn right on South Shore Drive. Make an immediate left on River Breeze Drive. Ahead is 153 River Breeze Drive.
