Coroner’s Office releases identity of Dorchester Road stabbing victim

One man was stabbed to death and another was injured Friday in an apparent altercation in North Charleston.

Shortly after 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to 3737 Dorchester Road, where they found a male victim deceased, according to a news release issued Friday night by North Charleston Police Department spokesman Spencer Pryor.

This morning, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Dottie Lindsay identified the victim as Joseph Brown, 49, of North Charleston.

According to witnesses, Brown and another male were involved in an altercation during which Brown was fatally stabbed.

A male subject believed to have been involved in the incident was transported to Medical University Hospital for a cut to the back of his head, Pryor said in the release.

The incident remains under investigation.
