Charleston police arrested a suspect Tuesday in connection with an attempted armed robbery and shooting that occurred about two weeks ago, according to investigators.
Shakiem Jamar Maxwell, 20, of Apache Street in North Charleston, is charged with attempted armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Police said Maxwell demanded a man’s money at 9 p.m. Oct. 15 at St. Andrews Gardens Apartments on Ashley River Road. When the man refused, Maxwell shot the man in the leg, according to police.
The man was hospitalized and treated.
