GEORGETOWN — Gov. Nikki Haley is making several stops during a visit to Georgetown.
On Tuesday, her office says the governor is giving an address to the Rotary Club of Georgetown. Later in the day, she’s scheduled to give a briefing to the media on the fire that gutted part of Georgetown’s Front Street earlier this year.
A Sept. 25 fire along the city’s waterfront shopping and dining district gutted seven buildings. The fire put 130 people out of work and displaced nearly 10 families who were living in apartments above the buildings.
Earlier this month, Haley opened up $1 million in public funds to help rebuild the area, issuing an executive order declaring an emergency for the city and county in relation to the damage.
