LANCASTER — A Lancaster man has been arrested and charged with stabbing his wife to death.
Fifty-four-year-old John Ghent was arrested Monday and charged with murder.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the couple’s home around 7:30 a.m. Monday and found 54-year-old Elaine Ghent in a bedroom, dead from stab wounds.
Officers say John Ghent was in the kitchen, suffering from injuries after a fight with another family member.
Maj. Matt Shaw said the other family member is the person who found Elaine Ghent dead.
Shaw said there are no plans to charge the other family member because of the fight with John Ghent.
Deputies have not released a motive in the slaying.
An autopsy was planned Tuesday.
It was not clear Tuesday if Ghent has an attorney.
