Charleston Southern leaped six spots to No. 18 in the latest FCS Coaches Poll released today, the highest ranking in school history.

CSU improved to 8-1 this football season with a 36-14 win over Charlotte last week. The Buccaneers are at Presbyterian on Saturday.

Coastal Carolina, also of the Big South, remained at No. 3 in this week’s poll after a 55-52, overtime win over Liberty kept the Chanticleers unbeaten at 8-0.

Southern conference leader Samford (6-2) made its debut in the FCS coaches poll after a 34-27 win over Wofford (5-30), which dropped to No. 16.
