Belk sets date for men’s store opening in Mount Pleasant
The first finished product of the Belk expansion in Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is almost ready for its debut.
The 125-year-old Charlotte-based department store operator will reveal its new standalone men’s store at 1100 Market Center Blvd. 6-9 p.m. Nov. 10.
Like a satellite of the mothership, Belk Men’s Store is going across the parking lot from the main department store. It’s taking a 30,000-square-foot building that previously housed an Earth Fare grocery store and the short-lived Guy Harvey seafood restaurant.
The grand opening celebration has an appropriately masculine theme with craft beer by Holy City Brewing on tap, giveaways of hand-rolled cigars and a silent auction of men-only products. Music is provided by DJ Big Hair Dave.
There also will be special promotional sales. Proceeds benefit Lowcountry AIDS Services. Donors receive a gift bag.
At its 82,000-square-foot main store, Belk is adding 30,000 square feet and a parking deck. That phase of the expansion is expected to be ready by this time next year.

BlueCross Blueshield of South Carolina is opening a new storefront, South Carolina Blue, in Towne Centre Place in Mount Pleasant.
