Downed power lines shut down traffic on parts of Savannah Highway in West Ashley for about three hours on Friday, according to Charleston Police.
At about 1:30 p.m. a car driven by an elderly man struck a utility pole, causing it to snap in half, according to police. The man was cited for the accident.
Lanes on Wesley and U.S. Highway 17 north and Parish and U.S. 17 north were closed while workers replaced downed poles, police officials said.
