A 51-year-old Idaho woman was arrested on drug charges today after a package containing more than 9 pounds of marijuana was delivered to a North Charleston hotel, authorities said.
Dana Rene Zimmerman of Driggs, Idaho, is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. She was held in the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing set for 2 p.m. Friday.
About 11:30 a.m., detectives from the Charleston County Metro Narcotics unit were standing by at the Radisson Hotel at 5991 Rivers Ave. when a U.S. Postal Service worker delivered a package to the front desk, according to an arrest affidavit. Soon after the delivery, a woman came to the desk and asked for the package,
The package contained 9.146 pounds of a green plant material that field-tested presumptive for marijuana, the affidavit said.
The marijuana was packed in eight separate clear plastic vacuum-sealed bags and had an estimated street value of $41,490. according to Charleston County Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady.
