Frequenters of the Piggly Wiggly at 1739 Maybank Highway won’t see a replacement grocery store for about another year. The now-closed store is one of seven local Piggly Wiggly locations that Harris Teeter bought in September.
A flier Harris Teeter distributed to nearby households said the location would close for a complete remodel and reopen under its new brand in “late” 2014. Previously, the reopening date had not been disclosed.
To cushion the blow, Harris Teeter included four $10 off coupons to its nearby stores at St. Andrews Shopping Center and Oakpoint Center.
A family-style Italian restaurant is on its way to Daniel Island. Ristorante LIDI will open in late fall at 901 Island Park Drive. Chef and owner Jason Colon said he wanted to open a restaurant that expanded meal options for families on the island, where he lives with his family.
“We’re raising our 16-month old daughter to appreciate quality table food that is freshly prepared,” he said. “That’s what we want to develop at LIDI, a place where families can enjoy good, simple food together.”
The menu features classic Italian dishes such as shrimp scampi and spaghetti and meatballs.
The renovated space will have a modern design with community tables, bistro seating and an outdoor area.
