Two bodies found at separate sites in Mount Pleasant in one day

Two bodies were found in separate locations in Mount Pleasant on Wednesday.

Authorities don’t believe there is any connection.

A fisherman reported a body floating in the Intracoastal Waterway near the Pitt Street Bridge about 1:44 p.m. Wednesday, Mount Pleasant Police Maj. Stan Gragg said. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Department Marine Unit recovered the body.

The only description immediately available was that it was a white man.

The second body was found at the edge of woods in the 2500 block of Rifle Range Road about 5:30 p.m., Charleston County Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said. That’s the section between Six Mile and Hamlin roads.

Detectives and the coroner’s office were working to determine the identity. No other information was immediately available.

There’s no indication of any connection with the earlier find, Brady said.
